My understanding is that the kick down linkage actually controls the fluid pressures inside the tranny, . . . like how tightly discs are squeezed together, etc. If the throttle pressure linkage (another name for kickdown linkage)isn't adjusted, your throttle pressure is too low. Damage may happen.
