JUST READ ALL THE POSTS ABOUT REAR BRAKE DRUMS, I'M BLESSED WITH A 1959 PLYMOUTH SPORT FURY - A STRONG 3/20 FOOTER. WELL I RUINED THE REAR DRUMS GETTING THEM OFF. IT TOOK RED HOT HEAT A FIVE LEG SLEDGE HAMMER PULLER, MANY HARD WHACKS WITH A 16 LB. SLEDGE TO MAKE THEM FINALLY SAY UNCLE. NEEDLESS TO SAY WITH THE MANY PREVIOUS ATTEMPTS TO GET THEM OFF THEY ARE SHOT. WOBBLE LIKE CRAZY. BEEN ON THE WEB LOOKING FOR NOS OR USED, NOT MUCH RESPONSE EXCEPT ONE GUY IN CALIFORNIA - HE WANTS $228.00 EA. I JUST FINISHED INSTALLING A AAJ FRONT DISC KIT ON THE FRONT WITH A DUAL MASTER CYLINDER AND PROPORTIONING VALVE. (WHAT A NEAT PACKAGE) THE COST IS LESS THAN HAVING A DISC BRAKE JOB AT YOUR LOCAL DEALER. ANYWAY, A LIGHT WENT OF IN THIS PEA BRAIN WITH THE IDEA I MIGHT SWITCH THE HUBS FROM THE REAR DRUMS TO THE FRONT DRUMS. THEY LOOK IDENTICAL EXCEPT THE REARS MEASURE 11-1/4" ACROSS AND THE FRONTS MEASURE 11-1/8" ACROSS. I PUT NEW SHOES ON THE REAR AND SLID THE FRONT DRUMS ON TO SEE IF THEY WOULD FIT AND THEY DID. I THINK THE DIFFERANCE IN DIAMETER IS BECAUSE THE REAR DRUMS HAVE BEEN TURNED. HAS THIS OCCURED TO ANYONE OUT THERE, DO YOU THINK IT MIGHT WORK, ASKING FIRST BEFORE I GRIND THE RIVETS OUT OF PERFECTLY GOOD FRONT DRUMS. FRONT DRUMS HAVE A SPRING AROUND THE OUTSIDE BUT I DON'T THINK THAT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE. LETS HEAR SOME REPLYS. THANKS - DICK THE NEW GUY.
