I don't think it's any worse, low end, than the stock 2 bbl. It really comes to life when the RPM start getting high. I have only the two speed powerflite tranny which doesn't help low end performance. The Holley carb I have has vacuum secondaries, and if you go this route, get the spring kit to "tune" your secondaries to open sooner. The stock spring is for a larger displacement engine, and I now have the next to lighest spring in there, and can probably go with the lighest. I get 14-15 mpg, which I attribute more to the Holly than the manifold.
