Powerflite rebuild question - Pits and wear

A competent machinist should be able to come up with a tolerance for this. However, in thinking about the pits, if they are not in a "line" but random and not a large quantity, it could be OK to ignore them. If you think about disc brake pads with cross-drilled or slotted rotors, these do not seem to affect the wear of the pads appreciably. I would think that as the band wears in, the pits would just fill with the band material and a minor amount of drum material, and that would be that.
