The car on ebay that you are referring to is mine, and I checked it out through the Chrysler archives guys. This car was coded for a 301, 4-barrel V-8, but I know that a very early owner had it converted to a 318 (1960 vintage) with the correct 1957 intake system, carbs, and air cleaners. It looks absolutely original, like it was born there. But it was not! I suspect that any dealer or mechanic would have done such a conversion if an owner wanted it and was willing to pay the price! Money always talks. But I doubt seriously if the factory would have made this swap or offered it as a warranty repair,
