Here are some things to check.......First you said it seems to be running cooler. The thermostat may be stuck in a partially open position from dislodged material as a result of the core change. Use a thermometer to check temp after full warm-up. Cooler water = cooler core = cooler car interior. Also compare core sizes. A local shop replaced a core for me with a "universal" core and it was not up to the job, too small.
