If you have no hint of reverse, your band is likely broken, which calls for dis-assembly. New bands can be found. A new reproduction might be made of a bit better metal, as we have learned a bit about metalurgy over the years. But by all means, attempt an adjustment. Just know that the tranny gods are against you on this particular problem.
