My all-drum '61 Fury is fine, because it never leaves town. The stock drums have always served me well in the city. Do note that it has a dual master cylinder (disc type, as our Total Contact brakes have two wheel cylinders on each side in front and use more fluid than regular front drums with single wheel cylinders). But my '60 Plymouth wagon that gets all the fun long out-of-town drives on winding mountain roads, well you REALLY should have front discs for that kind of driving! (did I mention that it has a 440?) The Total Contact drums were very good for their era (and I'm still alive, so they must work, right?!) but you have to respect the basic limitations of any front drum brakes (meaning: DON'T RIDE THEM ON STEEP MOUNTAIN DESCENTS!).
