Location: McComb, Mississippi | I decided to look at the body tag on my plymouth and see what i could find out. The tag is mounted on the cowl above the master cylinder and reads Body Number 153 17971. Can anyone figure out what these numbers mean? this is on my 58 plymouth.
thanks |

Location: McComb, Mississippi | I just found a card that contained some neat info on it. It was stuck under the drivers side of the headliner and is in good shape. My paint type was xjx and came with sportone trim package. The shipping date was April 10 1958. |

Would like to see a copy of what you found. See what else can be found out about your car.

Location: Vancouver, BC | The Shipping Order Number consists of the Scheduled Build Date and a number that is considered to be the sequence number for production on that date.
4 10 5931
Thus your vehicle's Scheduled Build Date was April 10, 1958. The actual shipping date would not be recorded anywhere on the vehicle as the actual date would not be known until after the car left the assembly plant. The build record at Chrysler Historical would have the date the car was built and the date it was shipped.
The 4 10 5931 should also appear on the body tag mounted on the firewall. It may appear as "0410 5931" and might be under "SON" or "SO NUMBER"

More info -
Body type "53" -
5 - Belvedere
3 - 4-door sedan
A code of "153" would be a 6 cylinder Plymouth and "253" would be for a Plymouth V8.
I have already decoded XJX. If the car had the aluminum insert, the code would be XJ3. The "1" for the Sportone would mean the car had Sportone but the "insert" was in paint.
Do not have all the codes for the interior trim, but the "133" is for a Belvedere sedan with the second digit for the style (cloth, vinyl, etc.) and the third digit for the colour. "3" is for red, I believe.

Thanks guys for the info.!!
Would it be possible to get similar photos of the left side of the card? That side seems to list the various options, etc. on the Plymouth.

Location: McComb, Mississippi | I will post the other pics later. From what I can tell, There is nothing checked or marked on the left side. The only kind of number that is on this side is IBM 431529.. |

Location: bishop, ca | Wonderful information, and document-form.
It's entitled "Plymouth Body Schedule", Chrysler-Form 18915, but it also bears the nomenclature IBM 431529, which identifies the punch-card type-style.
Is there an Edition date, printed onto this card?
I see that it's hand-written.
For all of the OTHER jealous-owners, out there, this appears to be the Broadcast Sheet which accompanied the Plymouth as the body was being assembled and painted, and this Form may well have been dropped onto YOUR cars' floors, too, after the body was fully constructed and painted, immediately before the interior appointments, and floor coverings were installed, on the assembly line!
Amazing document, there.
