If you are a fan of big fins you have to take a look at this. 1957 Desoto 2 door Firesweep sportsman. I purchased this car a while Back From the Original owners Family, they told me he purchased it new here in LosAngeles the car came with orig keys and lots of old registrations. It had been garaged its whole life. When I took it out of its garage it did not roll or run ,so we flat bedded it home. after draining tank and lines replacing coil we got it start and run,UNBELIEVABLE how smooth and quiet it is. we loosened the brakes now it rolls freely,the brakes still need to be looked at. The transmission looks pretty clean and appears to have been worked on, not sure what was done but I am guessing service.(pan gasked newer)Now the Great stuff This Desoto is missing NOTHING it is 100% complete There is NO rust any place. the bottoms still show shiny with its original grey paint . Exhaust is complete but rerouted under rear bumper instead of thru bumper. look carefull at photos ALL drain holes are clear clean and rust free. Look in wheel wells you can still see orig spot welds thru paint .chrome and stainless are complete stainless easy polish chrome should be rechromed.note passenger side has slight scrape on lower side but trim is easily straightened. all glass is good and windows work well. Interior is complete but front seats and headliner need replacing,guages and steering wheel very nice just need a cleaning. It still has the orig hump floor matt with the Desoto emblem. The trunk still has orig desoto trunk matt with most cardboard trim panels intact the others are in trunk for template has spare with cover and jack. all lights work no cracks in towers.trim tag and all ID tags intact . This is how it decodes: S-27 Firesweep 3146 Sportsman , Paint VLV V= Spring Special Spanish Gold (roof) L=Frosty White (main body) V= Spring Spanish (lower sweep) all orig never repainted Trim563 special beige &grey cloth,vinyl built in LosAngeles in final 300 of end of production 13,333 produced. there are only 66 of this model accounted for. 325 ci engine push button Torque flight trans. The odometer shows 13 k I do not know if orig but family says rarely driven neighbors had not seen it out in years. I have only seen 1 other and it was a poorly done resto and it still was impressive.. Please feel free to ask questions or if you want to inspect let me know thanks again for looking.
