Nice boat,I saw a blue Cutter Jet being towed behind a new truck a couple weeks ago on the freeway.
The 1959 Glass Slipper would look cool with your Dodge too since it has similar browed headlights, good luck finding one though.

It seems like several of the boat manufacturers tried to make their fins harmonize with the cars that would be towing them.I've seen models that have fins similar to 57 -59 Chevys and even the 57-58 Plymouths.

I know what you mean,It drives me crazy, there are simply too many things from the 50's and 60's that I love and not enough money! mine is the Ancarrow Patrician (the boat in the first photo) although I love them all....sigh...I'm going to have to perfect a way to counterfeit money or find a genie (the Barbara Eden kind)
Man,that was THE time to be alive! We had the most beautiful girls,cars,boats,homes,music..and did I mention girls?
Its been all downhill since then.

just some photos of my car and boat
Love the red and white Carl, can you email me some photos of the interior and is the upholstry original?
Anyone else with some photos of original interiors of red and white FLs(in colour) esp 57 Fireflite would be most appreciated as I am still undecided on the interior colour scheme for my project.
thanks

Location: Plymouth Spaceport | You're right,it definitely has a lot the styling cues of the red fish sea shark, but the fins aren't as tall and don't have the same side sculpting.
Since Glastron is still in bussiness I would assume they were worried about being sued so they altered the design. |

Location: central Illinois | That South Seas Samoan has some wild fins! You got any pics of it fron the back? Front has a sort of poncho look to it.
edit: I did a jaxed/craigslist search and South Seas isn't on the list. Would it have been called something else?

The South Seas Samoan is very hard to find and theres little info on them online. It does have a 59 Pontiac look to front end.
I have a rear shot of the yellow boat that shows the fins, they are really wild.I will post it soon. |

They were clearly following the auto industry.there is also a "swept wing" styled boat, and Glastron named a model "FireFlite"! I would have thought Chrysler would have that name trademarked. |

Location: central Illinois | I'm not going to pretend to know anything about boat design but I'll bet that double keel may have made dual outboards a necessity. But also very stable. The shot with passengers makes it look like a pretty large boat. Those fins being towed behind a 60-61 DeSoto or Chrysler would be an awesome sight! |

Location: Victoria, BC, on Vancouver Island, Canada | This boat doesn't have any fins, but it's clearly been made using parts from a 1957 Imperial.
It's too bad they had to put a reinforcement bar down the center of that gorgeous windshield
From the Imerial Club web site:
Quote:
"Here is the story about how the Boat came into being.
In 1957, a wealthy family on Lake Tahoe (aren't they all?) bought a new Imperial Convertible for their son, who was graduating from High School, and of course needed a reliable car to drive to college.
As 18 years olds were the same 50 years ago as they are today, he promptly took it out and ran it into a tree.
The family had the car towed to a repair shop, where it was pronounced unrepairable. Sooo, since they were thinking about having a new boat built for them at that time, they decided that the remains of the Imperial could be used in part to build the boat. So what you see here is a 1957 Imperial Convertible BOAT! Power is still provided by the 392 Hemi (I saw it but could not get a picture - it's in the engine hatch in the "trunk"), and has as much of the interior and dash as could be saved.
It is rumored to be the fastest boat on the lake!
The interior is the original, the top still works (and has to be put down to enter the boat, as the doors don't open any more), the power windows still work, as do all the other standard accessories for a 1957 Imperial Convertible. This was a real knockout, and I hope to see it on the lake next time we get up there." End Quote
