Location: York County, PA | Some here are missing the point - you get out of it what you put into it. We, not the show management, make the show for ourselves. Yes, it was stinking hot last year, but we have no control over that. I was so drained from the weather that it took me a week to recuperate. But what we do control is what we bring to the show. It is not just about the cars, it is about the people who come together with a common interest, demand attention for their accomplishments since last year, and most important will outwardly show appreciation for what others have done, good, bad, or indifferent.
Now if you only come with your fancy looking car that you paid someone else to do for you and then sit there like a toad under the porch for five days, then this show is overated. Save your money and stay home. |

Ya gotta love this stuff and have it in your DNA to appreciate Carlisle!
I was hooked the very 1st time I went back in the 80's although I never had the opportunity to attend
except when my runs w/the triuck happened to put me in the area at the time.

Location: York County, PA | I go back as far as 1974 when I pestered the H*** out of my father to allow me to have my own car. Later that year my father died in a traffic accident leaving the family with a 1970 Plymouth station wagon. Since we were farming his death was a shock to us. I learned to fix that station wagon with the help of two junkyards within walking distance of our home. Imagine the satisfaction of a girl in 1974 putting in spark plugs without crossthreading the plugs or screwing up the order the spark plug wires!!
My first major show with my first car, a 1956 Studebaker Commander 4dr sedan, was in 1980 at the 16th International Studebaker Drivers Club meet held in Gettysburg, PA that year. My first trip to Carlisle was in 1986 for the spring meet when I lived in Frederick, MD. Those were the days, no pavement, mud everywhere, and no tents to get in out of the rain!! Oh, did I forget, no credit cards, no cell phones, and no computers? |

| think I got it - Chrysler Owners Club. That's what I'm going with.
I had a set of the Crusty Old Crabs once in college, so I'd like to stay away from that, no matter how many votes it gets! |
