One may wonder why the first owner did not order one directly without Ghia made ??a custom order at home in the U.S..
The car looks good though it does not have the limo wide C pillar with the small rear window.
Does anybody know anything more about the car, where it was rebuilt they built on other cars as well?

This is a very rare 1960 Chrysler Imperial "CROWN LIMO 4 Door Ghia" 52"Custom rear door's. Was built in Dearborn Mi, Then sent off to Fine Coach Works in FinesTown Indian.. Research this car you will find its very rare and familys like the Kennedy's and Roosevelt's had most of these built, .Car runs and drives very well,floats down the freeway at 70-75 or faster no problem,all lights work along with gauges...poor shape NADA claims its worth 20,100 fair 32,900 and excellent 54,900.I have the car Insured for 32,000 costs me 42.00 a month. Location: Under the X in Texas | A REAL '60 Crown Imperial Ghia limo is built from a '60 LeBaron sedan. It has LeBaron amenitites like the formal, limo-appropriate smaller back back glass and the LeBaron wheel covers. But far more importantly, those LeBaron sedan bodies were shipped to Ghia on Imperial convertible X-member frames and after the 18.5" stretch job, Ghia also added large box section reinforcements outside the frame which double as bomb-proofing to the floor. That frame makes the REAL cars incredibly rigid.
I wonder if this car has any frame reinforcement or an X-member. Without that any potential buyer better have a test drive and then look for structural cracks.
Personally, I think the proportions on this car are quite out of whack. But then I'm probably prejudiced to my own car.

| A small point: The kit cars that Chrysler shipped to Ghia did use the convertible frame as you mentioned, but the base body was the two door hardtop. Front sedan doors were shipped loose with the car along with a "B" pillar. Using the two door hardtop body reduced the amount of work that Ghia needed to be do to the quarter panels to end up with the final car. |

Location: North Australia | Kevin, that is interesting info about the shipped kits using the 2drht body. It probably means the limo in the ad above was derived the same way as it has the 2drht rear roof shape and glass. The LeBaron is the same I expect, but with the caulked and leaded in LeBaron rear mini window?
What about a one off (custom?) limo body, retaining the 2drht doors and no rear doors? That would get some comments!
You could fit a double mattress behind the front seat! The ultimate 2drht drive in movie car.
Kevin, do you have any more info on the Ghia/Limo styles?

| In about 1995 my dad drove his 1960 Imperial Ghia Limo from Seattle Washington, all the way across the country, about 3,000 miles, and ended up selling the Limo at either Carlisle or Hershey PA, I can't recall which event. I drove the Limo in my best friends wedding in 1990 and my parents used the car in my wedding in 1992. That was a super cool old car, ran and drove nice for such a huge car. My dad decided to sell the Limo, after he purchased his 58 Custom Royal convert.

Whatever became of your dad's 58 Dodge ? I remember he was half beside himself when
he got it. He said he had a (gold?) one when he got married. Said it was his biggest regret
in life, letting it go.

The Imperial Ghia limos could be ordered in any color but I have only seen black and dark blue. There were only two interior colors standard which were gray and rich tan. My car is black with gray.
The '60 and later Imperial Ghia limos were in fact, as I stated, built from 4-door LeBaron sedans. The attached photo of a LeBaron "tub" with crates inside either ready to go or arriving at Ghia is proof of this. The '57-59 Impl Ghia limos were, as commented above, built from Impl coupes.
The backglass in the standard '60 Ghia limo which is the 7-window version, as shown in Duderman IMG_0002.jpg above, is the LeBaron production back glass. My special order 5-window, extra-formal version, has a custom smaller back glass. Nelson Rockefeller required more personal privacy for this ride.

Location: Under the X in Texas | One other phony '60 limousine is going to come up eventually in this thread. It is the car that appears in the movie "Lemony Snickets" The car was crudely created for this movie and has a "role" in the story. Authenticity Misses: the over-the-roof chrome basket "handle" trim does not align with the trailing edge of the back door, the blind quarter of the roof is far too long. Like the stretch phony subject car here, the tops of the doors are not cut 6 inches into the roof by Ghia and the wheel covers are standard Imperial (3-flipper). This car carries a non-Lebaron serial number and exists in the San Diego, CA region.

Location: Under the X in Texas | Mike, your car is an "airporter" most likely built by Armbruster/Stageway in Arkansas. Such conversion vehicles were typically purchased by hotels and resorts to get their customers to and from airports and local tourist attractions.
The door tops cut into the roof were a Ghia standard feature starting with the '57 limousines. The parting line doesn't show up well due to the angle of most pictures. The production '60 Impl sedans and coupes have the stainless roof trim outlining this same area and perhaps Chrysler stylists were inspired by Ghia to create that trim. Attaching a pic of a '57 or '58 Ghia limo door open. On the above, outlined pic of the blue '60, you can see the parting line going up into the roof at the front to rear door edge.

If it is as you say, someone must be able to follow it up. 
it would have been here in Sweden so I would sit in the car at once without hesitation.
(yes I know the U.S. is 20 times larger, but here in FL forum should some member stay nearby or call)

Location: Under the X in Texas | After further correspondence, I've learned there were two vehicles used in the Lemony Snickets movie. The full driving "faux" limosine and a second car that was CUT IN HALF for interior film shots. The cut car has the crazy dashboard changes and it is in the California yard and not for sale. I do not know where the driving car is -- probably still in San Diego county where it was last photographed. The HALF CAR dashboard picture:

Stop action with the train approaching and note that the Imperial script is standard production whereas Ghia made their own very light ornate smaller script. Also note the standard Impl wheel covers rather than LeBaron covers which are on the Ghia limos because they are based on LeBaron models.</p>
