Back about a year and a half ago....I took my first driving lesion with my grandma...afterwards we went around the Desconso Gardens and then I saw a flash of chrome and told grandma to turn around...as I knew it was a classic car. Dream come true as I saw a old dusty 1957 Desoto Fireflite coupe...something I always wanted. It had been off the system since 2007 and was coated with dust and dirt...a perfect buy but sadly the seller was not around. I checked once every few weeks for about two months until I saw a 1964 Chrysler parked in the yard. I knocked on the door and asked the old man if that Desoto was his, which it was and if he'd sell it. My eyes shined with hope....but life is not fair...he'd not sell it at all and a few weeks later, the car was washed and it vanished. Guess that was my only true experience with Forward Look cars....lets hope I can make that dream come true one day... here is a picture of it.... http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s579/57Kelii/desoto_zps19aa418f...

Kelii (am I spelling that right ?)

I presume you are young by the comment about taking your first driving lesson ????

Have patience, my friend. Put your money away and keep a hard nose to get what you want.

A 57 Fireflite coupe, while not the most common finned car, ARE out there to be found. The
key is having a well packed "money stick" to beat the seller over the head with when you find
one and to "work it", networking those of us crazies here who you see are into these as well.
Up until reading your post, I really had no idea this was THE CAR for you. Had I found one, how
would I know to tip you off on it ? Make your interest known and get your finances in place to
make it happen when that door opens. If I did not have a pile of cash on hand when my DeSoto
came up, there were 20 other buyers standing right behind me with cash in hand.

Be prepared and good luck !

Hey Bud! I Know Exacly How You Feel I Had That Same thing Happen SEVERAL times To Me When I Was looking For My First Car Two Years Ago. It Was A 13 Month search that Ended in Many Heartbreaks.one of those Was A 55 chevy That Live litterally Right Next Door.I Asked if it Was For Sale, the Owner Said It Wasnt Because it Was His Fathers Car And It Had Been There For 20 Years. A Month Later I Magically Dissappered And I Havent Seen it Since. But All the Waiting Held out And I Found One That Got Away And Returned later On (4 Months later). They are out There. It just Take Time, Pacience(How ever You Spell It) And Cash In Hand To Wave Under The Owners Nose.

This has happened to me several times. The worst is when you find out they had the car hauled off. So how does this make sense?

Say I offer 800 bucks for a car and they refuse to sell due to one of these normal reasons:
A. Going to restore it someday. (Its been 20 years already dude...no you aren't)
B. Car has sentimental value. (But I park my new Honda in the garage! Hurray! Plastic!)
C. Car is worth more than that. (I saw one just like it on Jarret Backson!!!! D'oh!!!)
D. My Brother, Sister, Son, Daughter, Cousin, Nephew, Niece, Dog, Cat, or whatever wants it.

Then they sell it to the scrap man for $150... My only thought on this is that they don't want anyone to do something with the car if they can't...and they sure as hell don't want to have anyone else make any money off their old car! Maybe if I dressed up as the scrap man and drove a tow truck they'd SELL SELL SELL!!!
