Let's preface this by saying this is my first year with a drivable forward look. I have been to 8 or 9 shows and each had a bunch of nicely restored cars and no trophy for my unrestored pile of beauty. I love talking to people about my car and listening to their stories too. Going out for a nice long ride is sweet as well. I don't do it for the trophies but have been thinking that if I could just get one.... even though every show always has at least three better...

July 28th in Gorham Maine there was a Lions car show. The weather was foggy and overcast and the wife and I almost skipped the show. We went anyway, about 40 minutes away. We arrived and went to the Mopar class and found a 65 Valiant Signet convertible, nicely redone. It stayed very overcast and started to mist after a couple of hours. Then a third car, a 64 300 showed as well. Several more Mopars showed up but went to other classes. They started to hurry voting as the rain started. I'm thinking, hmmm, 3 cars and 3 trophies... and I have been meaning to test the fix I put on my trunk lid to stop the leaking...

So the voting completed and they counted and it poured.

The tallies were made and the third place went to the '64. They called my name next. Yahoo! Second Place! If you look at my pic, I look kinda damp but it was worth every drop.

BTW, my trunk lip rework and gasket reset worked. The wipers worked all the way home, too.

So glad we went to the show!

Congrats. Great looking car you have there. Agreed. Should have been first.

Thanks all! Very kind words, and I must agree with you. When I started going, I thought people would like my car for the style and vote for it. Over and over people either ignore it or really like it and then vote for the best chrome/paint, which isn't my car. There is a local all Mopar show in the fall and I have seen first place go to a rusty but beautiful black Imperial with flashlight tail lights. Just want you to know I'm gunning for her!
