Here is an article from the Washington post about how an American citizen is experiencing Dalarna, Sweden. The home of Mopars

Fun to read about ourselves part of the Swedish culture in a Armerikansk Journal
And it's not just Dalarna but many parts of Sweden when it comes to car culture.
But mostly it's probably in Dalarna

It's funny to me that the article mentions Swedes listening to American tunes because I listen to a lot of Scandinavian bands now. Greenleaf, Lowrider, Graveyard, Witchcraft, Blowback, Dozer, Firestone, Truckfighters etc. This fuzz rock genre started with Kyuss in California near where I live, but Sweden has a lot more good bands that continue on with it.

Interesting article I agree, but I didn't see one picture of a restored American car of any kind in it. The writer must not have been a car person as there are supposed to be hundreds of old American cars over there that have been lovingly restored and put in car shows regularly. My paternal great-grandfather sailed from Goteborg too in 1888. We still have his passport and other documents. I have no real reason to go there for a visit, besides which it's cold for 7 months out of the year.  These old bones need heat to keep them happy.

Hej Magnus, great article
most pictures taken in Rattvik, right.
It's always a great time in Sweden, and makes really great fun with it's own American classic car.
But it is to drive so darn far, each year nearly 4,000 mls

Just mind blowing...

I'd like to know who the owner is of the Black '58 NY'er vert with Spruce interior in that overhead shot, I'm pretty sure that was the one I owned in the 1980s, and I believe the only one ever built in that color combo... I can perhaps give him/her a little history of the car.

I really love the 1959 Dodges.  The ones with the two tone paint are my favourites. What are those colors? Coral and Ruby? I once had a 1959 Dodge Coronet 4-door sedan painted blue, but it wasn't as nice as these Swedish ones appear to be. My car had a 325 V-8 and 3 speed manual transmission so it could keep up with traffic. It wasn't very plush though; no power steering or brakes. It even had the rubber floor mat instead of carpet. But it was a runner.

What is this thing that you posted a picture of? It looks like an aircraft tug that was made to pull planes around on the tarmac with a pullbar at your average airport. I'll bet the ride in that thing is hellish because of the short wheelbase. No idea what manufacturer made it I suppose?

Those are called "EPA-tractors" Stephen. The history started during the war - practically, it's a shortened car with two gearboxes that limits the speed to maximum 30 km/hour, still with 4 gears and reverse. Nowadays all the motor interested young ones (having parents that can afford) have their own EPA-tractors.

"Epatraktorn" is an excellent gateway to the car hobby. Young people may start to drive and build a car at an early age.
From the age of fifteen, it is legal to drive but only in 30 km / h.
The cars can be run much faster and it is common in rural areas where the police is rarely seen.
Most car builders in Sweden have started with "epatraktor".
The pink car in the picture is originally a Volvo Duett and the proud crew is 15 years.
Fun, fun, fun!

Can you guys do me a favor and buy up all the 59 Dodges, ship 'em to Sweden, and block all photos
of them back to the U.S. ? Thanks

There are some forward look cars that I really can not stand the looks of, but I have "sense enough" to
keep my fingers quiet about them, How about doing the same of us here, Doc?

The 59 Dodges are one of the most popular forward look cars, (fortunately most folks) are not
"Plagued by your poor eyesight and/or poor taste!!!!

New article about car culture in Sweden. This time about a more modern phenomenon, junk cars driven by young "rednecks".
The issue is hotly debated among car people here right now.
I do not think this is true car culture in general
and hope it disappears as soon as possible.

This is defintivt allowed!
"Dala Horse" is the symbol of the region where I live. Usually, it is made of wood.
Here you see it in developed form, made of concrete in Mopar livery. :)

I'm sorry, but I really can't warm up to the design of the 1959 Plymouth; even in Fury trim. I prefer the 1959 Dodge Coronet more. And I had one of each back in the day. (1970s)

Personal preferences. I much prefer the 57-58 Plymouth styling but have to say I would take any 59 Plymouth over a 59 Dodge.
