1958 Chrysler Windsor Hardtop 4 dr (no post). 354 Poly with 727 cast iron TorqueFlite, PS, Radio, Heater, Power Seat, 1 Twin Strut Mirror.

Lived 52 years in dry Las Vegas New Mexico and garaged ever since arrival in NY 2011, never wet. 102,000 miles, ran well on gas can 2 yrs ago, tank has since been removed for clean-out. Tranny fluid nice bright red, oil clean light brown. Car is complete, missing nothing, all trim present. Chrome is typical of SW, excellent, no pits, can be used as is, no chrome work needed unless showing at Pebble. Interior door panels are excellent useable, seats are complete original unotuched, some seams have come apart from time & wear, need redone or covered. Paint sunburned, sheet metal overall is fantastic, sole exception the lower passenger rear 1/4 which was poorly repaired after an accident when car was about 2 yrs old causing a small leak and lower 1/4 rust on that panel only! Otherwise there is NO rust to repair on this car... in 50 years with 9 or 10 of these cars it's the most soild rust free unrestored Forward Look I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of them. In order to properly, in my mind, repair the rear lower 1/4 and fender I obtained a complete rear fender/quarter/fin from Gary Grossich in CA (cost $1000). It comes included with the car. All told we have over $7000 invested, we realize the market is not there, asking $5500, you won't find a more solid one, please PM for more info, phone #, more pics, whatever... MUST GO TO GOOD FL HOME!

WE also have a '64 Dodge 440 sedan from Colorado with 40k mile 318 Poly 727 TF for sale, inquire.

I'd doubt that saab is worth nothing =) I consider older Saabs to be awesome, first car I practiced driving in was a '89 Turbo Convert. What color is it? Btw, good luck selling the Windsor, it seems like a good car for someone new into FL's to buy.

I have seen it Rosy, so sorry you're in this spot Roger, I'll be prayin' for ya.

I'm afraid I can't afford $5500, and unless I can drive 'er home, she's too far away for me to transport anyhow. Would ya mind puttin' up some more pitchers, Rodge? '58 was a GOOD year.

untouched original R floor... it's all as clean as this, amazing!

you can see door panel bottom, all are good useable shape and at least as good as the driver one pictured above, even arm rests are good, except top of driver's (you can see above).

Pass side front floor... asphalt sound deadener was coming loose here so scraped it off and painted with enamel to protect. Driver side is excellent original no rust as well:

Seat cloth deterioration is visible here, vinyl part is pretty good. Seats need covers or re-do. I have NOS lower cushion cover for R seat from Original Auto Interiors, included. Fabric and vinyl can be sourced from SMS, the NOS seat cover I have is shown in the box, in R floor pic above, under the glass for my 64 Dodge.

Trunk showing the 6 Spring Special trim strips, the stuff around them is dirt, not rust. No rust in trunk lid seams or anywhere else. You can see original New Mexico plate, the other (front) is on the wall.

Floors, inner wheel wells, frame, driver side floor access plate, all are amazing and equally rust free as what you see here, again with the exception of RR 1/4 and I have the CA sheet metal for that repair included as well.

The patina look is in! This car could basically be driven as is (with bumper and light put back on of course) but is also the best resto candidate imaginable, we searched for 2 yrs for one this complete and solid. For more pics or info please PM.

Appreciate that thought Rosy, and yes, it is hard to part with her. However, as per the cliche, some events forcibly re-arrange what's considered important, and I've been fortunate all out of proportion to my fair share of goodness when it comes to my wife, 3 wonderful next-generation adult offspring 26, 31 and 36, each with graduate degrees and each accomplished in their own way, and way more than my share of the world's goodies, one might say. So with that in perspective it's certainly not the end of the world, and if I'm able to get some things in order in the next year or so, if health permits I may yet be able to participate again in the hobby in a modest way...I have a house to finish while I can, and need to tie up various loose ends. Part of that process is downsizing: I've already sold my boat, and today sold my motorcycle. As to the FL hobby I've had some fairly rare and sought after cars over some 40 years, so no regrets, it does make it easier when one can say "been there, done that".

Looks like a really clean car. If it isn't too difficult to get it in driving condition, I would recommend that you do it because a drivable car will always be easier to sell. Also, you need to show a picture of the RR quarter in question so people will have an idea of what they are up against.

Roger, sorry you have to make this decision but it sounds like you have your priorities in order.

I've seen this car up close where it sits now and it is every bit as clean as it looks in the photos. If you live in the northeast, for this price you basically get free delivery of a Western car.

Good luck with the sale (and everything else!)

Thanks guys.

Morgan: thanks for the comment and hope we can get together again in VT sometime... love to see your wagon. I have to finish the place there while able and that's the reason for selling out now. Hope all is well with you.

Nathan, agree with you about getting it running, and will do exactly that as soon as weather warms if we still have it, won't take much, the tank is clean now just needs re-install, carb cleaning, new plugs and wires (have those)... the problem is lagging energy because of the health issues the last 6 months, or it'd be done already,

Re the 1/4 panel, I did show it, if you look at picture #6 that is the one needing repair, and what you see is the total extent of rust in the car, BUT the original repair job was so poor, with lots of filler, that I bought a complete rear fender from Grossich's in CA (Big M John didn't have one right for a Chrysler, he's always the first one I call!) to repair it, as in my opinion that's the only right way to do it... the CA rear fender is also included, as mentioned. I'd do that work too, done it on other cars, but am no longer up to doing that kind of stuff... a local shop known for very good work quoted 800 to cut out the old, put in the new, finish and prime, and may do that too if we have the car in late spring. Price would go up though.

If can sell off enough stuff to get the cabin done in the next year, we may yet keep her, and still have another boat plus sundry other vintage junk to peddle, so who knows...both sons love cars and they may get her yet.

If this was built with Spring Special Trunk Bars, why isn't it a dartline then? Or was that a extra cost option above normal windsors?

They were the same except the Dartline package had the rather odd "Dartline" trim on the side, while this one had the optional, and to my mind prettier, sideways V shaped "insert" with paint that matched the top, as Mopar called it. Both usually had the wide roof-rail side trim, the 6 bars on the trunk, and a rocker stainless strip. But one could special order all kinds variations of trim, many options were allowed. I've seen some SS's without the roof trim and some wthout the rocker piece for example.

Pic of the 354 Poly, de-greasing took off some of the silver valve-cover paint so there are patches of bare metal, still lots of NM desert dust, but no rust to speak of anywhere in the engine compartment, including in any seams or joints. Have the correct side mounted air-cleaner (not shown). I've cleaned the carb since the pic was taken last year.

Hi Roger !

I'm so sorry to hear that you also have health problems, and that it is forcing you to so sell your cars, I don't
know yet, if it will come to the same point with me, I sure don't hope so, I will hate to loos them, hang in there
Roger and let's hope it will clear up for you.

I wish I had the money to buy it, and maby your 1964 440 to, my son has a 440, a 2 dr. hdtp. that we restored,
but it could do with some better trim parts, thats why we made it look like a old NasCar, I would like to se pictures
of your 440 to, if you got some.

To 57Kelii, yes the Dartline trim was at exstra cost comparred to normal Windsor's, I don't know if Roger's V shaped
trim also was exstra cost ( I don't think so ), but annyway the 3th. trim was a straight oneline trim, that ran from the
wheel opening on the front fender, to end of the rear fender, so Roger's V shaped trim is nice'r after my opinion.

Happy New Year to you all

Thanks Torben... the '58 Windsor sale is "On Hold" right now, sold off a boat and a motorcycle, and have some other stuff for sale, so if I can get rid of enough other stuff then maybeI can keep the '58, at least for awhile. Even if it just sits I love to look at it, it makes me happy. In the meantime I'm buying the last few parts that it needs for it's restoration.

Will try to get some pics of the '64 440, we just put a super-low mile (40k) poly 318 in it, to replace the original 318 that had higher miles and had a burned exhaust valve. It's a Colorado car so it's very solid underneath.

This car was withdrawn from sale 1 year ago, as noted above. The '64 Dodge sedan has been sold.

The '58 Windsor hardtop 4 door is back up For Sale, as my health has deteriorated to the point I can no longer work on it myself.

Please look at all the pictures above to evaluate this car, you will not find a more solid one to finish, or drive it as-is. Ran well on gas can before tank removed for cleaning, new tank sender included as well. Also includes complete rear quarter from CA.

$5500 OBO.

Thanks for your kind thoughts Mike. It's a huge disappointment to have to sell her, after all these years, but progress has been very slow to nil lately. Now can only hope for a good steward for this quite rare car.

Have to take large amounts of steroids just to be able to move now, so there's a bunch of loose ends that need to be taken care of soon. Just sold a '64 Dodge last week, our old Saab is also on the block, and our pontoon boat will be, as soon as warm weather comes.

I have so many things to be thankful for, so having to sell the car is small potatoes, in the overall scheme of things.

It 's a Spring Special, same extra trim as a Darltline except it has the prettier "color sweep" side insert instead of the designed-by-commitee Dartline silver side trim.

Bumper and rear lights and gas tank were removed by me last year and stored in my garage in preparation for the Cali 1/4 panel replacement job mentioned above, and to clean out the tank, blow out the lines, and replace the sender.

It can be made drive-able, but other than starting it on a gas can a couple years ago it hasn't been on the road since 1993 in New Mexico, still has the NM plates on it. Last time I tried them brakes were still holding pressure but I'd go thru them, plus pressure check radiator, replace hoses, belts, and other usual stuff before even trying to drive it. This is not a turn key car, as made clear above, but it is a very clean "survivor", if you will. I'd also put on a dual pot master cyl and new wheel cyls before driving it, but that's just me.

Having a very hard time contemplating letting go. Really and truly conflicted ...maybe they can bury me in her.

Steve - I'm in Binghamton NY right off I-81. VT is our summer home.
I know Somerville, both parents were from Melrose, Dad went to Tufts.
Unfortunately ultimately health will force it's sale, one way or another.
Most important at this point is finding a good home.

basically installing the tank changing oil flushing radiator brakes may nd to be bled may nd new whl cyls dual port

mast. cyl lose brake pressure - no brakes! - handle emerg. brake to be careful a 2 day job hard to find shops who

take interest in any "old" car with all this hybrid electric technology... never mind a forward look.... most who

repaired these cars are retired or passed on.... is there any forum member near you?

Please PM me for my contact info... lights and bumper are in the garage with it.
Even with medication I can hardly move without pain now, much less put them on.

I wouldn't drive it after being off the road for 22 years. I'd want to go thru all the stuff that I've mentioned carefully. Transport would cost far less than paying someone here at $90-100 an hour + chasing parts to do what it'd need to get it completely road ready, anyhow I don't know anyone here I'd trust to work on a '50s car, I always did everything myself... our Mustang 'vert goes to the dealer.

Thanks for your kind words David, much appreciated.
If you haven't already, please start a thread on your 4 dr hardtops - many here would enjoy seeing them, I know I would, in whatever state they may be in!

'58 Windsor still for sale, it will have rear CA fender installed later this month if not sold, and the price will have to go up by what it will cost me, to $6900.
It will be completely rust free and ready for paint at that point.

Thanks Sid.

I've postponed the quarter panel work for now, as it'd raise the asking price too high I feel.

Car is available as-is with extras mentioned for $5500.
It cost $1500 just to get it here from the SouthWest.

Thanks for the nice offer Jeff.
I need to sell it as is, but if someone wants to have work done prior to shipping or buying that would be their option, I have a heated, well equipped garage so any work could be done here to avoid transport several hours each way, if someone is available to do it, but I know no-one here that I'd trust to do it and I can't do that work any longer.
