Location: southern Oklahoma | is there a reliable source for full size '61 Plymouth brake shoes? when we purchased the car a few years ago the seller said he had a bear of a time finding new shoes and actually included a wore out set for possible relining. google suggests that they are much more common now than they were a few years back. I figured if anyone would know ya'll would - thanks! |

Location: bishop, ca | Craig's asbestos brakes are manufactured in Argentina, which isn't so particular about carcinogens.
I've got a pair of his shoes/linings for the Emergency/parking brake---not yet installed, Craig.

| The NEW NEW ones I have are made in argentina -- they want our money -- they don't care about EPA and asbestos and the like (god bless idiots!!!!!!)
However, I also have PLENTY yet of N.O.S. --- very U.S.A. --- asbestos shoes,yet -- particularly the 1957 - 1961 Plymouth 11" x 2" Front & rear,
the 1957 Dodge (and 1960 - 1961 Plymouth Fronts) 11" x 2" --- and JUST GOT about 8 sets of the # 86 Brake Shoes (a couple original # 49s and #50s)
for the 1956 - 1962 Chrysler & DeSoto 12" x 2 1/2"s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -- the E - Brake shoes ( # 95 -- 7" x 2") N.O.S. are all gone -- at the moment!!!!!!!!!!!!
Those who know me know my philosophy --- "Never say NO"!!!!!!!!!!! (I just hope I live that long without drooling... you know my knees are already shot!!!) -- Craig

| Hey Guys,
I was having brake issues last year and lost the front brakes this year, the wheel cylinders were shot, so I ordered up 4 new front wheel cylinders, put new front brake lines & flex hoses, but for what ever the reason the Right front drum keeps locking up. I tried everything I cant figure it out
Any help is much appreciated!!

Location: Perth Australia | There have been lots of discussions about this problem, anything from bad drums, bad lines to bad brake return springs
Apart from the lines, you could try swaping the springs from side to side, you can with the drums as well, but you wheel studs will be around the wrong way, but good to test to see if you can move the fault to the other side and work out which part/parts are the problem
You said lines, not linings, if you linings got contaminated, that will most likely be the problem
You can burn them to try to get it out, but better to get new ones
