Location: tailFinland | Yep, 1 5/8 (heads) and 1 3/8 (block) if I remember correct. |

Location: North Australia | Jari, 1 5/8 (6 off in the block). Don't accept anything less than the Hot Hemi Heads stainless steel plugs. I have installed the original type (convex disc type) in my engine and will pull them out and install the HHH plugs at some point.
The heads have 1 3/8 disc type plugs (4 off).
Here is the HHH block plugs.

If you want to use the original style, this English company supplied the ones in my engine currently' The plugs supplied are about .015" thicker than the originals I pulled out, so are probably good plugs.

here is an ebay source for the head plugs.

here is one part of my story with the old disc type plug malady, still to be finalised.

| I resurrect this thread because I have a related question. I'm looking for the plug that goes behind the camshaft. The engine shop tells me that this has a stepped bore like the block freeze plugs and thus needs a disc type plug. I believe the bore size is 2 9/64 like the later cup style bores. Anyone know a source? Thanks. |

| The block has stepped bores so a cup style won't work. Machinist says we need the Welch style disc. Every place advertises their cupped plugs as fitting early 413's but it ain't so.

| The sides of the block are 1 5/8". I thought the bore for the cam plug was the same diameter as the later RB blocks but couldn't find a 2 9/64 concave disc. Looking up the Chrysler part number for the early 413 plug and cross referencing for equivalents seems a 2 1/8 Welch plug will fit the early 413's as well as some late 50's Chrysler v-8's. Thanks. |

Do yourself a favor and install them correctly, not the old "ball peen hammer 'em in" way.

| Nothing is wrong with it if you have a later 413/383 or 440 without a stepped bore. With the early stepped bore a cup style won't work. The diameter can be OK but its length is insufficient to properly seat it. These stepped bores were designed for the concave disc style plugs. |

Should be an image of a concave disc plug as opposed to a cupped plug. |

Location: NorCal | I think you'll find that Summit's minimum shipping price is many times the part cost.
