Guys,

Is there a source for a power dual master cylinder conversion for 55-56 Plymouths? I tried my own design, but it doesn't work. I don't have enough travel to fully apply the brakes. (I have disc brakes)

Thanks,
Tommy

Disc brakes require a master cylinder with more brake fluid volume than a master cylinder for drum brakes. If you are running disc on the front and drum on the rear, you can use a mid 70's chrysler disc/drum master cylinder. I am not certain about the 55-56 power set up, but I had to modify the 70's master cylinder cap on my 1960 Dodge so I could get it off because it was tight to the power booster on my car. You also should get or make an adjustable actuating rod to allow easier adjustment of pedal free play.

I have discs all around. I tried a master cylinder and booster off of a '90 Dodge 3/4 ton van, but it apparently still isn't enough.

What components did you use in your "own design"? What is your pedal ratio?

I used a cylinder and booster from a '90 Dodge 3/4 ton van. 7.47:1 is the ratio. pivot to the pedal is 17 3/4". pivot to the piston is 2 3/8"

That's your problem, power brakes only need a pedal ratio of around 4-1.
