I am looking for a pair of cast iron exhaust manifolds. Any suggestions? A '58 Windsor would/should have a 354 Poly. Poly ex mans are different than hemi. If someone dropped in a 392 Hemi never mind! 392 ex mans for the Imperial come up on EBay & are a bit cheaper than the better flowing 331-354 hemi ex mans. If you have the 354 vPoly EBay would still probably be the place to look. |

Location: Yorba Linda, Ca | This is my plumber. As I mentioned (in a new thread this AM), He has replaced the 354 Poly with a 392 Hemi.
Unfortunately the ****** guy that did it, added "long headers", and they generate wayyyyy toooooo much HEAT!!
It boils the gas, is burning up the starter and all kinds of other bad things.
So He wants to just put on the Stock Factory manifolds, so He can drive the car.
He now has a "Stock, 392 Hemi, (1957-1958), albeit "Hopped up a bit) but a standard
392 hemi manifold should work.
So not important what the stamping is on the engine, Neil~~~thanks.
I have "Hedman shortie headers" in my 59 Dodge and no heat problems.
In the event we can't locate stock 392 exaust manifolds, would you recommend
the shortie headers, if so, which ones!!!!remember it has to fit into a 1958 Windsor.
My Shorties are coated, so maybe that helps keep the heat down~~~~Ya thinks???
Anyway, much appreciate if you guys can help out my Plumber~~~~Maybe He'll gimmie a discount
next time I need him!!! (LOL)

Location: Yorba Linda, Ca | Well, it turns out He has Shortie headers but not coated, and not heat wrapped.
Also He has the "performance 392 heads" so a "Stock manifold" will not work.
so forget my request about finding a Stock Manifold.
It looks like he will need either a better set of shortie headers
or some "Performance manifold" that will fit the 392 Hemi.

Location: So. Cal | What kind of performance heads does he have that would affect the exhaust mount? Even the aluminum hot heads use the same mount. Does he have 417 Donovan heads on it or what? Or is he saying that he wants something that will flow better than the stock manifolds? If so, he could look for a set of 4-bolt truck manifolds. But they may require clearancing on the edge next to the power steering box.

Location: N.W. Fla. | Yup, as far as I know all 392 OEM heads are the same. 54-56 331/354 ex mans flow better than the 392. The 392 mans though were designed to fit the engine/body. There's a set of the truck ex mans on the Hot Heads 4 sale section. Reportedly wraps on headers will cook out the carbon from the steel causing them to fail, & voids the warranty. |

I'm not the least bit familiar with what manifolds will fit the the 392 Hemi, other than the stock ones with
stock heads.
Hopefully He will post on what heads He has, I don't think they are anything "too elaborate thou"!,
but when I talked to him this AM He mentioned maybe the truck manifold would work.

Haven't looked at the Hot Heads' manifold, but there were two Truck manifolds; both 4-bolt flange.
The 315 Dodge truck, and the 354 Dodge truck.
The 354 truck manifolds will bolt up to the 392 heads.

Location: N.W. Fla. | I meant the Hot Heads Classified section where people sell things, not a cheap price on the 4 bolt. When I put a 331 in my '60 Plym I found that the ones that point twords the oil pan was the ones to use on my application. Didn't record part #s though |
