Location: Saskatoon, SK, Canada | So I have a 3 speed trans. is that a power-flite or torqueflite its a push button mind you... I was told its a 27something or a 72something I forget... anyways
My question other then trying to get the proper ID for the tranny..
where am i going to find another transmission that will fit into a 1957 Plymouth that had push button, or what type of years and makes should i be looking for...
sorry if i am confusing a lot of you's....i hate talking transmission subjects lol |

Location: Ripon, WI | If it is original, it is a A466 Torqueflite. This is the cast iron version of the 3 speed trans. Since you have an earlier model, you can only use up to 59, I believe, as I think that is the year they changed the shift cables.
if it is not original, well, all bets are off. It could be a 727, if it is all aluminum, in one piece. |

Location: Ripon, WI | There are cases with cast in capture points for the shift cables, and transmissions that the capture point bolts on. The cables are different between the two. Otherwise, there were changes internally, but that doesn't affect what you can bolt it to, really. Unless you are putting a ton of power through it. |
