I am rebuilding my 61 Imp 413 and wondering if I can relocate the temperature sending unit. Of course my car has AC and as we all know the temp sending unit is impossible to reach under the compressor.
Is there a good place to drill a hole in the water pump housing that is just as effective and accurate?
Thanks for the help.

You really want the sender as close to the thermostat as possible, this is where the hottest coolant will be (on average)

Other than that, no help sorry

On most BB water pump housings there is an unused hole next to the upper heater hose nipple, this will work for a heat sender; the problem is removing the pipe plug....it usually won't come out without a generous application of heat (like cherry red).
