Your 303 Cubed Engine was 277 Cubes in 1956 is soon to become The A-318 starting in 1958. This means any 1966 to 1958 A-318 has a full basket of parts that are directly the same. Some of your 303 parts are so good designed and built - they are in every LA-273 -- LA-318 --- LA-340 and LA-360. The Head - Valve Design has a DNA Engineered Child called The 5.7 Hemi.
Other words--- it is a keeper.

Location: Alaska | The 303 was the engine put in the Canadian built 57 Plymouths, don't have the exact internal dimensions but I believe it has the same stroke as the 58 318 with a slightly smaller bore. It was also used in the 56 Plymouth Fury. The U.S. built 57 Plymouths used the 277 (early) and the 301 versions of this engine. As Rodger mentioned, many parts are interchangeable with the 318 through about 1966. |

In 1956 they show The Dodge 270 , the all new A-277 and A-303
The A-303 sized engine is in my Motor Auto Repair Manual as a 1956 "Fury Engine".
For 1957 the same book shows only 301 and 318 Cubes ( this is for The U.S. only ).
From 1958 to the end of the 1966 production year --- this was what most V8 Plymouths got in The U.S. ( remember the subject is The Poly's ).
For what seems as for every 213 plus something 2 bbl and Single Muffler Cars --- a 4 bbl and Dual Exhaust Car was made ( a 2 bbl 1957 Plymouth "Poly" has more power than a like
sized Chevy or Ford Engine with their 4 bbl ).

| Mike57, the serial number will tell you a lot. (If you tell me the number.) For a 303 Fury from 1956, the engine serial number is facing forward just below the head gasket on the drivers side. (Usually covered in oil.) Here's a 303 with the factory 2 x 4 WCFB's.

Is your Plymouth a Canadian-built car? The 303 was standard here, in all 57 Plymouth and Dodge cars. The 313 came in for 58. I can give you numbers if you need. Also have lots of parts. |

Kv- 5856 c And also 1676328 thoses are the only numbers i can find on the engine
KV-5856C
K - 1957
V - 303 V8
5856 - 4,856th KV built in C
C - Built in Canada (Windsor, Ontario)
The Canadian-built 250.6-cid 6-cylinder engine used the same engine number scheme. minus the "V".
The 303 had a 3.812" bore while the 313 was 3.88" and 318 - 3.91" So, to get a 318 from a 303 you would need to bore out 0.098".
Chrysler of Canada introduced the 303 for the 1956 Dodge Custom Royal (2-bbl carb) and 1956 Chrysler Windsor (4-bbl carb). For 1957 the 303 was used in the Canadian-built Plymouth and Plymouth-based Dodges. The 303 was also used in Canadian-built 1957 Dodge and Fargo trucks.

| The 1956 Plymouth Fury V8-303 is a hard engine to find parts for until you realize they can easily be bored out to the standard V8-318 bore and then pistons and rings to fit become plentiful. Just about everything else on the wideblock 318 fits too. |
