Location: North Australia | Best looking turd I've seen all day! ( I work at a power station and was looking into the sewerage system today).
A Single light 57 Desoto does not deserve that title. Looks like a great car, and a rare bird too! Good luck and please post more pics.
Steve.

Location: bishop, ca | The REAL problem with putting Hemi heads on a Poly engine is that the compression ratio....(owing to the greater volume
inside the Hemi c.c.'s......AND, the physically-shorter Poly pistons----will-both combine to give the 'New Hemi' heads their O.E.M. lower c.r.
of around 8.0:1)
The OEM c.r. of the Hemi engine is 9.25:1
The OEM c.r. of the Poly engine is 8.50:1 (IIRC)
the HOT-trick trick is to put POLY heads onto a Hemi engine block!!!
The c.r. would go up to something approaching 10.0:1, and the engine would LOOK like a civilian Poly engine....
truly like the 440 B-block Wedge could out-run a 426 Hemi!!!
And, the Poly heads can be smiled-upon by a good mechanic, to flow very nicely.
But, due to the mundane appearance of the Poly heads, compared to the eye-candy of the Hemi heads, street
rodders usually go for the easy-score (Hemi) instead of the STREET-score (Poly) ...heads.

Progress already! Thank you for keeping us posted, and please keep the photos coming.
Sorry if I've missed this, but will the paint colours remain the same?
And what of the interior? I can see that the seats have already been reupholstered at least once before.
Will you be changing the style of the seat upholstery?
Can't wait to see your great Desoto when all of your hard work is done!
Congrats!
