Is there anyone know of a good source for a timing chain set for a 383 1959?

Do you want a stock replacement set or a double-row roller type?

Without a doubt, go with the rollar chain. As I remember, wasn't much difference in price when I did my 413, 4 -5 yrs ago. Got the parts at NAPA. Jerry

From my experience.

Be aware that I think the early big block castings differ from the later models. Carefully check the camshaft sprocket to engine block clearance. Both of the sets I purchased interfered with my 1959 built engine block casting. First set was destroyed, second set required the camshaft sprocket back side machining to give clearance.

The first set chain was stretched and the noise sounded like the worst big end bearing failure you ever heard. This was on my refreshed engine, and took a complete engine strip to find.
