Location: Northen Virginia | Does anyone know the 2 tubes measures for the Torqueflite shrink tube repair? I would like to repair my trans cable in Argentina and I would like to take a good quality tubes from the US. I know Gary sells a kit but I have no time to order it from him now. Thanks a lot. |

Location: Southern Sweden - Sturkö island | I have repaired the shift cable with just one shrink tube. Important is that you get a high quality one with glue inside that melts when you shrink the tube Denis.
The shrink factor should be 4:1
For instance, the Hellermann Tyton brand has
12/4 (measurements in millimeters) that will fit from the pushbutton end and 24/6 that will fit from the transmission end (the 12 means inner diameter before and 4 after chrimping).
There's black and transparent versions |

I will check around tomorrow, but I see is pretty expensive. Have you any idea how long is the cable?
Thanks

Location: Southern Sweden - Sturkö island | Yes Denis, it's "priceworthy" but really high quality, even though Hellerman Tyton produce this product in the yellow zone.
If you need to repair an oil leak, then you need abouth 10 inches of shrink tube, if you want to fix an oil leak and make a cosmetic update for the full cable lenght, then you'll need approximately 50 inches of the 12/4 tube.
For extra safety, an extra 24/6 tube of 10 inches could be mounted over the 12/4 at the transmission end. |

I always use RTV in addition to the shrink tubing. Somebody offers shrink tubing with built-in "goop" that acts as an additional seal when the tubing is heated to shrink it. |
