| Does anyone have any thoughts/knowledge about a transmission mount change? I'm swapping out the stock 3sp. in my 1960 Matador (to a 1964 3 spd out of a New Yorker), and am wondering if there's a bolt-in part I can use for the trans mount, or if I'll have to fabricate something? I'm having trouble even finding pictures of either trans mount online, so I have no idea what I'm working with...

| Thanks, much appreciated! I'll have to confirm it, but I'm thinking I might be able to just make an adapter plate & use the mount I currently have. |

| So I've got the trans on the ground now, but have no idea how to disconnect the parking brake from either end (trans or foot pedal) - anyone have any photos of either end's connections? I didn't have much luck searching the forums. I did manage to disconnect the push-button trans cable at the dash, and will be removing it once I get this transmission out of the dirt & into the garage. While I'm asking, what does it take to remove the trans fill tube/dipstick? |

You need to download a service manual.

They might not have your exact year but year, but a year and model similar to yours will have the info you need. |

| Thanks for the link, but I don't know of anything comparable to a '60 Dodge Polara/Matador, and the Dodge manuals at that site jump from '57, straight to '66.
...I've just read thru both the '57 Dodge, and the '60-61 Chrysler, and I'm not finding the information. There are comments that say "remove parking brake cable", or similar, but no diagrams/instructions on that specifically, at either the lever or drum end. Any other thoughts? |

Location: Perth Australia | You do need a manual
I got by with a 60 plymouth manual that I bought off ebay for about $30
If you undo the e brake drum, it will all become clear
The shift cable is also easily disconnected at the trans by removing the neutral switch and relieving the clip that locks the cable in

I just downloaded it
As my cars an export, all the dash is 60 plymouth, so having both is an advantage

| so, can anyone help identify this crossmember for me? the ebay ad has been removed, but it's listed in the search as being for "... Dodge-Plymouth-Mopar-Transmission-Crossmember-1960-1961-1962-1963-1964"
it looks to be just what i need for putting my '64 Nyer trans in my matador, so I'm trying to find out *any* more information about it.
thanks for any help you can offer!

after a lot more searching, it appears to be a crossmember from an auto trans 63-64 Chrysler. I downloaded the manuals, and it appears in both years. Does anyone have 1st-hand experience with these? |

Location: WHEELING,WV.>>>HOME OF WWVA | as long as it bolts to your frame , its not real hard to fab in a new trans mount . i had to do a refab on my dart when i used a 64-5 833 4 spd. with the rear housing changed out to a 69 housing and
tail shaft . that was the hardest part . refabbing the trans mount went relatively easy . unless ones crawls under the car to have a look see , they'd never know of a swap --------------------------later |

| Turns out the crossmember from a '63 Chrysler New Yorker fit just like the old one did (was going to say 'perfectly' but the old one was a P.I.A. as well). I can now say that the '64 NYer 413 with stock engine mounts & the '63/'64 crossmember is a direct bolt-in to a '60 Dodge Matador that had the 361 in it. I should find out about the stock exhaust soon. Oh, and I should have bought the new mounting hardware, as I had to shim the isolator bolt from the Matador crossmember to prevent over-tightening. I did use the same spring though.
Should I make a post somewhere about this for others' information, or will posting it here be enough for a search? |

Location: Alaska | I am assuming you are also using the 64 engine because the 64 trans. will not fit up to the 60 engine without a lot of work. You would need to change the crankshaft to a 61 or older to do this right. (easiest way) |

| correct - bought the NYer 413 engine/trans as a package. Engine mounts were the same between the two engines, and the trans mount required changing the cross member. Looks like the stock 361 exhaust will bolt up too, but haven't confirmed yet. |
