| Just joined the forum.
Looking forward getting to know some of you.
I grew up on Mopars, with roots in the late 50's cars.
Here's some photos of my project that I just finished.
I hope no one objects, since it's not a 'pure' Forward Look car.
It's a 1956 Chrysler Windsor, with all 2006 Chrysler SRT8 engine, drivetrain, suspension, interior and technology.
It's a blast to drive.
There's also a magazine article about it if you would like to take a look.

| I love it! How difficult was the trans to tunnel clearance to overcome? |

| Clearance was not bad at all.
Had to make a little bit of room for the center carrier bearing of the driveshaft.
I did graft a 2006 floor tunnel on top of the 56 tunnel to support the 06 console.
Here's a pic of that.

| great car and a ton of work. I am doing the same thing * 2 to my 70 GTO, I have replaced the entire floor and firewall with a 2006 GTO, a corvette Z06 front suspension and 2013 Ford GT500 rear axle Its an insane amount of work if it was me... just IMHO! 1. I would put the emblems and possible the hood ornament back on it. The 80's 'clean car" look is fine but the emblems make these car. The 56 emblems are great also. Most emblems are of the FW cars are so much better than todays cars. Hood ornament is very tasteful also. At the worst I would put the Windsor and the V's on it. Maybe just remove the trunk and hood ornament? 2. I think chrome rims are the way to go but maybe a different setup. Maybe a shout out to the wire rims with a rim with a ton of spokes or effect. I know rims can get INSANE priced... but maybe something with some bent/mulit spokes?

Location: cornpatch county, Southwest IOA | You chose a beautiful car design. Looks like the only thing 56 Chrysler is the body. I see you also used the New Yorker headlight rings. That is what I did on my 56 Windsor that I recently sold. Do you have any of the trim pieces left from original--the three "stars " that go on each side of the C pillar? You have a very tasteful Mopar there..................................MO. |

| MO,
Sorry, my car didn't have stars on the C pillar.

Location: Ponder, TX | Though I'm not a fan of big wheels, you have a beautiful, tastefully modified car! The chrome removal reveals just how graceful the original lines of the '56 Chrysler are, and the color is perfect to match the mods. |

| That is an impressive build! Very nicely done! There are many cars out there that should get this sort of treatment. That is a nice modernization of a classic look.
Did you chop the top also or are my eyes seeing things?
Congrats Glen on a job well done!

| If you read the article, the amount of work is mind boggling. This coming from someone who has done 4 modern hemi conversions. He took it to a whole other level. Would love to see this car in person. Someone should have this in a sema booth |

Location: McCleary WA | Wow. Very impressive. After a 2-year restoration I have been considering my next build, and as a life-long hot rodder this is just down my alley. I have been looking for an STR8 donor, but want to go a step further and use AWD if possible. Not quite sure what to put it in but I am partial to '57 Dodges, maybe a wagon this time. Very nice job. |

| It's the original 56 frame, just modified (significantly) to support the front and rear suspension sub-assemblies from an 06 Chrysler SRT8.

| No, the top is not chopped.
I think just cleaning up the lines of the car added to the look.
Thanks for the compliments. |

Nine Years !!!
I was still working at the time, so it was only a 'spare time' project.
Retired just in time to start enjoying it (although I think I enjoyed the build more than the driving).
Thanks! |

Basically just the body and frame (and rear seat). Everything else is 06 Chrysler SRT8 |

That is one of the things I liked about my 56 Chrysler. The top looked chopped from the factory--partly due to the "slab" sides. Also the rear window designe added to the chopped look. 56 Chrysler Windsors contributed a lot to the 50's customizers. Rounded corners on hood and trunk- the grill and headlight rings. I expect the tail lights were on some custom cars too. .........................................MO |
