Location: So. Cal | Does anyone know what this hub cap came off of? It looks a lot like a '59 Imperial cap, but I didn't think they came out with disc brakes until like 1966 or so.

Location: Kansas City, KS | I agree the base of it definitely looks like a 1959 Imperial wheel cover but if it is, then it has been modified.
It's missing the turbine inner ring.
The center cap/hub looks somewhat similar to the 57-58 Imperial but it's not.
The stamped "Disc Brake" ring looks like it had been glued on.
I would say this is someone's creation.
Crown Imperials had Lambert disc brakes from 1949-1954. Disc brakes were not available again until the introduction of the Budd brakes starting in 1967. |

Location: So. Cal | I thought '66-'67 was the first year too until I read this:
http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=42571
Now I'm not so sure. This cap doesn't seem to match any '64-'67 Chrysler or Imperial that I can find. Does anyone have a picture of one that at least sort-of matches? |

'66 was not the first year of Chrysler disc brakes. Chrysler offered Ausco-Lambert disc brakes during 1951 - 1955 for Imperials and New Yorkers. I had a '53 NYer with these brakes. Those cars also had unique wheel covers but only in their mounting which allowed venting of the brake heat - they did not say anything on their face. |

Location: Melbourne, Australia | They were actually used on all 1966 1967 1968 Chrysler Product C Bodies with the Rare Optional Budd Disc Brake Set up .
Because the Budd 4 Piston Disc Brake Calipers were so huge you automatically got 15 inch wheel option , so these caps only come in 15 inch size .
