Location: Northen Virginia | 1956 to 1959 Columbia "Highway Hi-Fi" 16-2/3 rpm Record Players are probably the ones, this record player are reaching $1000 dollars or more. I cant think of any other accessory that expensive. However, I will be converting my to a modern touch screen device, listen to a expensive Chrysler exclusive music in 16-2/3 format seems like limited entertainment Records available

Location: Iowa USA | 1956 and 1957 are the only years it was a factory authorized accessory.
If a dealer had one on the shelf and the customer wanted it they would probably install it on their 58 or 59 for them but not factory supported for warranty claims.
Full list of 42 records available (numbers 1-6 came with each player) 7-42 had to be ordered http://www.roadkillontheweb.com/records.html

Location: So. Cal | Yeah, even a complete dual 4bbl option with air cleaners can run you in the $2.5k-$3k range. Let's not even think about fuel injection...
What would a complete auto-pilot option cost including the motor, linkage, cables, steering column housing & switch?

Location: Iowa USA | Just for the sake of the numbers.
When I sold my Adventurer I sold a NOS record player with all 42 records that were available. and some factory photos and literature.
The package sold for $8K
But fuel injection for the 58s will probably beat that number if you can find a complete setup. |

In the event that you can see yourself taking care of the stereo after you use it, or moving it around frequently, pick one that comes mounted in a helpful conveying case. |

Location: Connecticut | The Highway HiFi needed to be paired with a searchtune radio that had the special 5-prong outlet on the back, since it used the integrated amplifier in the radio. Also, it was controled by the radio. So adapting this to a 58 model year car could probably be done by retrofitting a 57 radio in the dash. For '59, not sure how it would be done. Lee - maybe you could chime in here ? Do I have this correct ? Ron |
