Location: Southern Sweden - Sturkö island | The Youtube clip (sorry, only in Swedish) is an interview with Kjell "Power" Gustavsson who was robbed by two masked men - they attaced him with a fire extinguiser and threatened him with crowbars - the loot was roundabout 1000000 SEK (116-117000 USD).
The perpetrators were of foreign origin and Kjell is convinced that the police won't be able to solve this crime.
The Power Big Meet went on just as normal the day after, but Kjell informs that the Power Big Meet 2017 is now a BIG questionmark.

No more Power Big Meet!

Location: Southern Sweden - Sturkö island | There's a slim possibility that Kjell "plays" this card for to "force" the police to do their job and act. Still no traces of the perps.
For the city of Västerås it will be a major loss in income and tourists if Power Big Meet will stop.
That said, the Swedish police force isn't famous for solving crimes, but they're good at writing traffic violation tickets and look the other way if a difficult situation should occure |

Location: Connecticut | So he's just going to throw in the towel after all these years because of this random incident ? Sounds like he's using this as an excuse to move it elsewhere. Why was he carrying around the money in the first place ? How did the thieves know this ? Why wasn't the money collected and put in a safe ? The whole story sounds fishy. Ron |

Location: Southern Sweden - Sturkö island | It's not a random incident Ron - it's a major disaster for him to loose all that money. As I heard it, he wanted to move from Västerås since a long time, but now there will be NO MORE POWER meets at all. That is if he don't change his mind.
It's a good question why he carried all that money without any security, but it always worked for him during the years. Kjell states that he suspects "Inside De Lux" behind this.
I don't think there's anything fishy about it, perhaps he like many other Swedes still believe that it's still like the good old days when you never locked your car, bike or house. When I was a kid the hunters left their shotguns in the small boats, ammo and all - no one of us kids would ever get the idea to touch the boats or the weapons - we all knew that we would get a real good punishment if we did.
Now you cannot leave anything in a boat if it's not chained and locked to the boat, engine, spare tank, tools, whatever....
If the engine is interesting enough the thieves even cut off the stern with a chainsaw.
It really was better in the old Days.............................. |

Location: ZH, Switzerland | I watched the Youtube interview of Krjell. My eyes cateched a subject behind the tree with a yellow polo or t-shirt. I assume Kjell was observed for a longer time by helpers of the thiefts to get his habits. I assume Kjell is an old school guy who doesn't like to change his habits (e.g. bring the money daily to an automatic bank deposit machine). It's a sad story and a major loss for all of us who loves 50/60 FLK mopars. I hope the thiefts will be found and punished. Dieter |

Location: FIN land | There was some info released at VLT.SE/ Västerås that the Big Meet will be arranged by mr. Klas Brink who has worked for Power Meet organization for 15 years and he has already booked the Johannisberg airfield at July 6-8.2017 for a car meet. ( Mr. Brink is famous for his collection of '58 GM convertibles..).
Here's the clip from the VLT:

Sweden is (was) a birds nest. In most places outside big cities, You can live your car unlocked, top down, in winter time even leave its engine running and no one steals it or any stuff from in side of it. Once my american foot ball said when everybody left their cars unlocked, conv topdown when tey came to practice, "do then in Florida and your car will be gone in 60 seconds"
Earlier that day Kjell told via those huge megaphones how good spirit we have here at PBM, Someone dropped his vallet in a toilet with over 6000 krowns in it at it was returned to info-desk.
I think he really was thinking that no one would ever rob - even that kind of robberies has happen in Sweden many times.
He did not realize that someone do not have that raggare-spirit and is not in Västerås after old american cars.

| he probably was walking around with ticket money and the criminals knew he did, somewhat inside job.
Or he wanted to buy a car? A lot of old guys do this and simply ask to be robbed. |

Location: tailFinland | Would it be time this year to arrange the meet for forward lookers outside the event area or even outside the town?
Friday or saturday eve. We would need just a parking lot and there are just outside cityringen. |

Location: Southern Sweden - Sturkö island | Yes Jari, it would be due time to do this! When I arranged the 50 year celebration for '60 Chryslers we Went to Skultuna Mässingsbruk and had our meeting there. I don't Think that it would be big enough tough. As you write, just a big parking would be great.
Do we have anyone local in Västerås? |

Location: D-70199 Heslach | This year was a mopar only meet at "Leos Lekland at Hälla Köpcenter" on Saturday eve, not many FL'ers be there but this place looks big enough to attend, and share the mopar interests. This is my idea about it.
