Two different fuel pumps are advertised that will fit a '59 DeSoto. The arm lengths are significantly different. How can both of them be the right one? From my experience many years past, I am familiar with the one that has the longer arm and also a push rod was needed that is about 3 inches long if memory serves me right.

not the one with the longer arm. the upper seems right but i believe its a cheap non rebuildable carter. check ebay and search for mopar big block/hemi (2.gen) fuel pumps they all fit from 1958 till end of production.

Thanks! I have a new rebuilt one that came with the car when I bought and it has the shorter arm. It also has the row of bolts around the housing where it can be taken apart for repair. This I think is good and should be the right one. I probably will never need it because I have it as a spare but low and behold, if I sold it, that would be the first thing I'd have to replace - Murphy's Law you know.
