Location: Kansas City, KS | It looks to be a very solid original. It even comes with a second trunk lid!
Ad with pics for posterity:
Purchased in November 1991, this 1958 Imperial Convertible was my wife’s car until 2009 when she was diagnosed with macular degeneration and lost her driving license. Unwilling to part with “her car,” it was placed in inside storage with a total of 83,045 miles on the odometer where it has remained.
Now, however, it is time to find this 1958 Imperial a new home. This is not just an automobile. It is an iconic example of combined art and function by the designer and builder
that leaves nothing more to be desired.
A new battery has returned the 392 Hemi engine to life along with 6 quarts of fresh oil and filter. Four new tires assure safe highway driving. The push buttons for both engine starting and transmission shifting function as intended. It has power steering and power brakes. Standard amenities include power windows, power seat, radio and even power antenna.
Sadly, the fabric on the sound and original convertible top is worn and should be replaced.
Overall, this 1958 Imperial Convertible is a fine automobile, of which only 675 were produced and which will never again be seen in America.
CHOICES! In 1958, the Imperial Convertible was available with either of two trunk lids. One was the popular continental style with a simulated spare tire. The other, more formal,
has a single tapering chrome molding leading to a four inch Imperial Coat of Arms. Eight one and one half letters proclaim “Imperial”. Both lids are included.
Sorry, Navy jet not included.

It may be an inch high but doesn't look that far off to me. The smaller tires don't help either.
Here's some interesting factory photos. Compare the rear wheel arch to wheel cover. It's very different in each photo.
Which one would be correct?

Hankook tires? Seriously?
Unfortunately they're the only whitewall tire available from the mainstream suppliers. Go to tire rack and try to find a 14 or 15 inch whitewall for any of our Forwardlook cars. Hankook is the only one. A little more tire trivia: did anyone know that 13 inch tires have disappeared from the market? You don't see any early to mid eighties GM compacts on the road that used them anymore. |

There are plenty of whitewall tires available in 14 and 15 inch - wide, narrow, dual stripe, bias ply, and radial in lotsa sizes............... Coker is only one source but there are more.

| You and I know that but go to your local neighborhood tire store with this car and you'll get Hankook tires. |
