| 1. You dream of a 100 car garage... 2. You have called 10 storage units to check prices in 1 years time 3. You buy parts for cars you don't even own "yet"... 4. You stalk ebay daily 5. You say "if I had another storage spot..." at least twice a month... 6. ... add yours per #3 I just got a 59 dodge bumper and i don't own a 59 "yet" yesterday...

ugh, that one kinda hurts...
i'm from a generation where i've had friend upon friend "inherit" garages *FULL* of **HOARDED TRASH** that hasn't been touched for DECADES, garages that haven't had a vehicle parked in them for DECADES, no room with all of the **GARBAGE** stashed away... |

Location: So. Cal | You can console yourself that nearly anyone who inherits your cars or parts will most likely think that it is all trash. Very few people will see the value in any of this stuff. In fact, when I tell even my brother who is more of a car guy than most people that I have an intake manifold & carbs worth over $2K, he looks at me like I'm spinning a tall tale and says "If it's true, then why don't you sell it?"
And when I tell people that I paid $4500 for an old car with rotten interior, quite a bit of rust, & no motor or trans, they know that I have gone completely insane and wasted $4500 on an eye-sore that should be hauled off to the crusher.

i agree, but i'm NOT talking about a passing on to my heirs a "car" (they do not get them!)...
i'm talking about people who have two-car garages with nothing but boxes and boxes of "nicknack" *CRAP* that they pass on to heirs...
i even know of an "estate" of three kids where the three agreed to BULLDOZE the garage, that NOTHING in it was worth a "dime" and certainly wasn't worth their "time" to sort through all of the *CRAP*...
but i'm with you, my heirs will *NOT* be "given" my cars (or the house!)... |

When you travel cross country to pick up the rustiest car you can possibly find, spend the next several years buying parts and parts cars, then the next five years putting it all together, then, once it's completed, go on a 6,500 mile trip with it after only driving it 50 miles, destination-All Mopar show on the other side of the country.

I wish that we could have done that with my Mum and Dad's house when Mum passed away (in 2014, Dad went in 2009). It was a horror show going through all the crap that they had saved because they grew up during the "Dirty 30's" and never threw *ANYTHING* out in case it was needed sometime in the future. Unfortunately, they passed on some of hoarding mentality to me with regard to car parts (and a few other things).

know all too well...
my parents are both living and are 50s/60s kids, not 30's kids...
they both went through nothing but a NIGHTMARE in dealing with the "stuff" left them when grandparents of the 30s passed...
but they've done nothing to 'dwindle down' their "hoard" - the six of us kids are going to have to do it 'for them'...
i do *NOT* want my kids to have to do that...
but i'm also only in my 40s, i can't claim to know what i will be like 20/30 years from now...
but my fingers are crossed that my kids won't be left with a bunch of boxes of "crap" to sort through... |

no. #15 you bought a "oh so novel" desoto hubcap clock, trashed the clockwork and put the hubcap on your desoto. |

You frame FL ads and hang em on the walls all over the house...
Or you collect all sorts of 55-60 FL adverts from antique stores when you weren't even thinking that you would ever own a FL car.
And now that you do (1956 Dodge Custom Royal D-500), you (or your wife) wonder why you have all these other adverts.
