Okay, I will venture that it was the 1960 Imperial.

Location: Sydney, Australia | Yeah I was thinking it might of been the Imperials. See a lot of old photos of them being used for Govt and specialty cars.

Location: So. Cal | My guess would be the '61 Imperial. And it has the '60 Imperial beat by 1" at 227.3 inches. This, of course, doesn't include the modified limo cars. Those are super long.

Location: Kansas City, KS | All of the (non-limo) Imperials used the same basic frame with 129 inch wheel base from 1957 until 1966
My 1958 sedan measures 227 (point something) inches long. I measured it real quick but it's definitely between 227 and 228 inches.
If the competition gets serious, I will dig out a micrometer and calculate in millimeters. |

Agree. 1961 = 227.3" (on the 1929 inch wheel base)

Location: Vancouver, BC | Actually, the longest Forwardlook car was the 1956 Imperial on a 133" wheelbase for an overall length of 229.6". The 1955 Imperial was on a 130" wheelbase and was 224.1" long - the second smallest of the Forwardlook Imperials. The 1957 Imperial was 224.0"
The 1956 Crown Imperial with its 149.5" wheelbase was 243.6" in length. And no, the 1955-56 Crown Imperials were not built by Ghia but by Chrysler. As the regular 1955-56 Imperials were an update of the 1953-54 models, so too were the LWB 1955-56 Imperials an update of the 145.5" wheelbase Crown Imperials.
A new 1955 LWB DeSoto taxi was to share the 1955 Crown Imperial body but that was killed when New York City announced new taxi regulations based on a standard sedan. And without the DeSoto taxi it was not feasible to build limos in Detroit. So, they kept the 1955-56 Crowns as they were already tooled and looked to Ghia for 1957.
Attached are photos of the 1956 Imperial 4 door sedan and the Crown limousine. The Imperial 4 door models (133" wb) used the rear doors of the DeSoto and Chrysler (126" wb)- you can see the extra seven inches between the rear doors and the rear wheels on the sedan.
The limousine is a pre-production model. The production 1956 Crowns used the same body-coloured headlamp doors was the Chrysler New Yorker and regular Imperial models.
