Location: Cochrane, Alberta | Does anyone have a guess on what the bare frame for a 58 Canadian Windsor (or 58 US Saratoga) would weigh?
I'm in the process of removing the body from the frame and I am wondering if it would be better to leave it as a rolling chassis for sandblasting, or strip it to a bare frame.
I'd prefer the bare frame but I'm wondering how manageable it would be from a weight perspective. |

Location: Parts Unknown | It is a four man operation to move it about. As much for bulk
as it is for weight. I suppose I could manhandle one around by
myself and some tools. But for setting it up on sawhorses and
flipping it over, a guy on each corner makes an easy job of it.

Location: northern germany | I'm not a good weightlifter but i was very surprised or shocked how light (and weak) those frames are. I'm pretty sure i could lift one alone if there was a frame rail or something in the middle of the frame. this was a 59 fury frame but i do not think 122/126wb frames are much heavier/stronger. no problem for 2 guys to lift and move around. |

Location: So. Cal | I have one from a larger Chrysler. I strap a dolly on the back end and I can lift the front end by myself and move it around. It gets heavy if I need to move it very far so I would need two people to do that. It isn't light, but it is manageable. |

Location: Muskego, WI | My buddy Nick and I moved around the bare chassis for my 1956 Imperial when I had it powder coated, do it right and take it all the way down if you're going to be that close. |

Location: Williams California | Just two weeks ago I bought a '57 Fury and parts car up in Washington, I and another guy picked up and loaded the bare frame into the back of my truck with the tailgate up, so the rear of the frame would ride just over the car on the trailer. I'd guess the weight was about 150 Lbs. or so.

Location: Parts Unknown | Wow, ... we must have a bunch of SuperHero types on this
forum ! Lifting the ass end of thes frames is no real feat. The
front end is heavy and the whole thing is cumbersome. I would
not try to flip one over in my shop without help. sounds like a
great way to break things.
And while it was not asked about a convertible, just the X-member
weighs as much as the frame, if not more. |

Three fingers ! Wow.
You know, I have chopped up more FL cars than most people have owned
or even looked at. Loaded a lot of frames on to trailers and even handled a
few in the shop on restoration projects. I can't recall a single one, even a
unibody sub-frame, that I could lift with three fingers ! I AM impressed ! |

my hands and fingers are pretty weak, while i do lots of workout i'm doing it to gain or maintain endurance and power, not torque. i can't lift heavy weights very well. I'm pretty sure everyone here could lift a 118" wb frame.
with the frame laying on the ground if you pick up only the heavy end without another guy picking up the other end alot of the weight is transfered to the end still on the ground. not difficult at all. i moved around the frame without any problems with my buddy or alone with one end on a dolly, of course not with 3 fingers.
