I was going to gut my Highway Hi-Fi so I could put a modern stereo in the enclosure. If so, is there anyone that would be interested in the internal parts? I'm in need of the brackets to mount my Highway Hi-Fi box below the dash of my 1956 Imperial, does any one have these brackets? Perhaps we could trade?

Based on what I have learned about Highway Hi-Fi's, your plan is seriously flawed because they have significant value, think $500-$1000.
I think that you would be better off to sell the Highway Hi-Fi and turn the proceeds into a conversion of your tube radio to a modern digitial stereo.
I had my 56 Electro-Touch Tuning (aka "Town and Country") radio turned into an AM/FM/Aux(iPod)/USB/Bluetooth device using Aurora Design conversions components. Looks completely stock but it is crazy smart. Works great. Here is my testimonial on that conversion:

I converted my Highway Hi-Fi as my second project for my 1961 New Yorker years ago. Took me about 2 1/2 years and works as an addition of my converted radio. It is also included modern High definition TV or HDTV, a very handy back up camera and rear LCD screen.
I had several request for the guts, but my Highway Hi-Fi can be turned back to the original record player configuration, if a future owner want it to.

My original radio is completely gutted of internals, it is in the dash purely for show. Can it still be converted? I would have to imagine most (if not all) original parts were replaced?
Perhaps you are right about the value, maybe I should leave the unit together and sell it. I have no intention of getting it working.

jboymechanic, I might be interested in the guts if you go that rout. I have a Highway Hi-Fi that i picked up for relatively cheap ($40) at a swap meet that I want to tinker with some day so having some extra parts around would be helpful.
