These seem to be pretty darn resilient. I've been able to resurrect both of mine plus a spare fairly easily. All three were inop when I started. All I did was clean and lube (can air & WD-40) and they each came right back. I did clean the contacts on one of the winders because they were little burnt. The one I did for the sedan has been running like clockwork for almost a year now. So if you've got a dead one I'd say it's at least worth a try. Not hard to do and I've had good luck.
