Location: Minnesota | I finally got my car ('57 DeSoto Fireflite) almost ready to start again after a seven year restoration... and of course ran into a few problems, when I started to add fluids.
The water pump that never leaked a drop before the restoration... now leaks.
Of course, the '57 DeSoto water pump is one year only.
I had a couple of others sitting in the shop, but I had bought them as cores, planning to send them out for rebuild.
I went to the computer to find a rebuilder and the search came up that Speedway Motors had new ones for sale... What?
In fact they had Water Pumps for every year DeSoto Hemi. A quick look at the pictures and the '57 pump looks like it was painted for the pics but the earlier DeSoto Hemi pump looked natural.
The price of these new pumps was less than I could have one rebuilt, so I came to the forward look to see if anyone had posted information... but I couldn't find anything.
Does anyone have any experience with these reproduction water pumps?
