Hi, I have renovated the power steering on my 1960 NY. afterward it doesnt have any power assist on low idle. Does anyone have any clue whats wrong? can I have mount the slippers in the pump wrong

Try removing that press relief valve nut and see if the relief valve might be sticking. If it slides in and out smoothly add a washer under the spring. That will raise the output press. Be careful as too much press will blow out the bottom seal on the gearbox. The correct thing to do would be to put a high press ga ( 0 - 2000 psi) and a shut off valve between the pump and the gearbox. When you start to close the valve the ga will tell you what psi the pump is putting out. That gear box is good for about 850 - 950 psi as I remember. So you want to keep the pump press below that. You only need 200 - 300 psi to easily turn the wheels. Jerry
