Location: D-70199 Heslach | I've got a steering gear here, but I'm not sure which model it is.
Is it a Constant Control Power Gear or "just" a Coaxial Power Gear?

| I believe that is the "constant control" unit. It was used from 58 on and is supposed to be a little better than the coaxial unit. |

Location: Ontario, Canada | Definitely constant control. The co-axial ones were aluminum castings.
Actually, I much prefer the co-axial. They give more road feel and the early constant control units had all kinds of problems.

How can I install such a steering gear in a 57 car.
Which parts are additional required, because the neck at coaxial is much longer than at constant control and the connection between steering gear and steering column on the 58 models are not familiar to me |

| You need to use the correct steering column that goes with the gear box you are using. There may be a difference in length between the column used in the long wheelbase cars (Chrysler, Desoto) and the shorter wheelbase cars (Dodge, Plymouth). |

Location: Ontario, Canada | Yes. The Chrysler ones are about an inch and a half longer.
