Location: Colorado | Hello all! I just purchased my first ever forward look car, a 1957 Plymouth Belvedere 2 dr hardtop. It is pretty rusted. Turns out that it needs a new frame, because the current one is like swiss cheese. Wondering if anyone has a 57 or 58 plymouth frame that is solid that I could buy? Also, how does one go about replacing the frame on a 57 plymouth? Is the body welded to the frame or bolted? I am also looking for a driveshaft for my 57 plymouth (just a stock one).
Thanks!!

Location: Muskego, WI | Body will bolt onto frame. I don't have one, but I'm sure someone has parted a car that would have a good frame. Not sure where you are, but there are junk yards that still have these cars. Your first contact on this forum should be "Big M", he has a lot of these cars yet in his junk yard.
I have a stock drive shaft from a 1960 Plymouth that I'd sell for $50 plus shipping. It was pulled from a running, driving car with a 318 Poly V8 and PowerFlite trans. If you check your length, I could confirm whether mine is the same.
Welcome to the forum. |

Location: Williams California | I have nice solid frames, but also on the west coast, so shipping may be cost prohibitive.

Location: Colorado | Thanks for the reply. Im glad to hear that the body just bolts to the frame, will make swaping them a lot easier. I live in Denver Colorado.
Ill be sure to contact big M. My 57 has the 301 with the push button transmossion, you think the 60' driveshaft would work. One I get off work ill go measure. Thanks again! |

I have the correct frame in good condition. Where in Colorado? I will be delivering an old Dodge truck to the Phoenix area, and perhaps could meet up somewhere along the way.

Location: Muskego, WI | According to my interchange manual, the drive shaft from my 1960 Plymouth with 318 and PowerFlite will interchange with a 1957 Plymouth with a V8 and PowerFlite but NOT a TorqueFlite. Do you know which trans you have? The PowerFlite with have 4 push buttons (R N D L) while the TorqueFlite will have 5 push buttons (R N D 2 1). |
