Very nice car. BUT why must they make it more than it is?? A two-barrel 325 poly in a Coronet V8 was a Red Ram in 1958, not a Super Red Ram. (Just sayin' )

Well, with that engine paint and chrome treatment - it's super now!

Coronet also didn't have any teeth. So why does that one have teeth ?

I think there are more than a few Custom Royal bits that have been added to this 58 Coronet, not just the teeth.

This one kills me: Why add two hood spears when you can add three? Add why not have gold lettering. Didn't all low priced cars do that?

==================================

The teeth were optional on all models, so that one might get a "pass".
The triple hood ornament lineup is just stupid. But then so is all the
underhood chroming and general over-blinging. A lot of guys think that
extra sparkle is all that much better. I would put money on that red and
white paint being another "look-at-me !" change the "restorer" did to get
more of that show-ribbon-winning attention.

With the last 40 years of 50's car interest placing such an emphasis on
maxing out chrome and options, the more I see strippers and low end
models, the better I like them.

different strokes for different folks, but my general rule on added bling is to make sure it is easy to remove / reverse.

this car was well on its way to becoming the Swiss Cheese Dodge!

I have never heard of the Teeth being an option. That would sorta defeat putting them on a Custom Royal if just anyone could plop them on.

They also aren't listed in the accessories brochure -

So me thinks it's just some dude with a coronet trying to be Christine by putting whatever he can find on there, year and trim be darned

The bumper sections came both with and without "spuds" in 1958 and the spuds were available with individual PNs. They are shown on a 58 LD2 Royal but seem like they might have been available (if you ordered them) on a LD1 Coronet (and of course the LD3 Custom Royal where they might have been standard equipment):

My understanding on the spuds is that they were optional across all models in 1958.

1957 was a different story.  Standard on the Custom Royal, but perhaps not available on other models?

Regarding the gold annodized aluminum block letters (and Dodge script on the trunk), only the Custom Royal received those in 1958.

Even the Mighty Regal did not get the Midas Touch.
