Hey guys, new here. Picked up my 1956 Plymouth Savoy a few months ago and Having some issues finding a starter or finding parts to rebuild it. Part number on the starter is MDG6002. Found a couple on eBay but I’d hate to spend that kind of money for one on a part that’s not going to work

Just confirming that MDG 6002 was also known as 1627 290 in the Mopar Parts book and it was *THE* 1956 Plymouth V8 starter.

I would get an aftermarket high performance starter instead. Give IMI performance starters a call and tell them what you need. I'm certain they have one for you. I believe that their part number is 122-001 since you should have a 146 tooth flywheel. Here is their info:

Thanks guys for all your help. Ordered a starter from IMI on Thursday, showed up on Saturday, slapped her in the car and got the 56 Plymouth fired up with the key for the first time since I've had it! Highly recommend those guys down there. Chris Isom was the man. Gave me his personal cell number if I had any problems or questions on the install.
