Are there any markings on a 1959 Super D-500 engine that would identify it as different from a regular 383?
I will be curious to see what the marking differences are between the D-500 383 and the Super D-500 383. There might be something near the distributor.

1959 Dodge D500, Super D500,1959 Desoto Fireflite and Adventurer engines are all stamped ML-383. The dual quad versions had no special stamping.
A way to see if a particular engine was built as a Super D, you could look at the date codes on the intake and exhaust manifolds and see if they are close to the date code stamped on the block below the ML-383. The dual point distributor also has a date code that should be in the neighborhood.
