Should a 1957 Dodge Lancer D 500, have an Dual exhaust system with 4 mufflers?

Waldron Exhaust shows a 4 muffler system.

thank you Bob

My first reaction was "NO!" but then I checked and the answer is "MAYBE!". Both 2 and 4 muffler systems are listed for 57 and 58 D500s. The 4 muffler system would be like the Chrysler one, I guess.

Check out the parts listing under the two diagrams. Looks like the 57 and 58 D500 convertibles got a 4 muffler system but the sedans and Lancers just had the 2 mufflers. Probably due to the convertible's "X"-member.

That would make sense on the convertibles to have 4 small mufflers instead of two large ones. But it would be pointless on a hardtop or sedan.

I don't have a photo of a 57 and newer convertible frame. But the idea of the X-frame causing muffler size/location issues would be illustrated with this 56 Desoto convertible frame:
