| Has anyone had any experience with the 57-59 Dodge windshields that are reproduced and carried by suppliers like Auto City Classic in Minnesota? I read where someone in Sweden makes the best but that is too high cost for me. The available windshields I can find at classic parts places are around 400 bucks. Do they fit? Is there any better options? Thanks |

| Classic city glass i think doesnt produce curved windshields. They just do flat glass. Maybe a distributor of pilkington.
Our repop windshields come from Pilkington and Finland.
Pilkington 451 windshield is fine, i think its 325$ from them.
Their 453 fits but doesnt have quite the big curve as Finlands(350$ vs 1700$).
plus you can pick up Pilkington in columbus ohio and new mexico. Finland I assume you can pick up in CA and Finland?

| Thanks for the reply. Do you sell glass? If the 451 fits well that's what I will do. After doing a search Summit Racing is a distributor. I'll check with Auto City Classic |

Exactly. Someone needs to light a fire under Steele, Metro or some other large company to get them going on it. |

| Yeah it would be nice to find vintage made curved windshields comparble to a windshield prices now. I need a windshield for my '60 Fury and yep, $400.00. To that what are going to do? To me there isn't much of choice unless you find a donor car, without pits, rock dings, delaminating or anything else. As gaskets I guess it depends on if someone has a profile sample to send to them. I found a place in British Columbia that would make my trunk seal for the low price of only $900.00 and they would even wave the set up fee simply because they had never been asked for one and then they would have the template. What a deal. |

For example, curved W453 costs around €550 (?) directly from Finland auto glass manufacturer Kuttilan Autolasi
+ shipping to almost anywhere.. Check their new home page (it's by Finnish, Microsoft web translator to English).

Go and figure why you cant find one decent windshield, and also do your Sherlock Holmes job and try to understand why they are reproducing stuff in Finland where a 4dr sedan cost 30k. And last but not least, your reproduction must pass the panel of 3 cats experts tribunal, and signed by the Pope in the Vatican...

These are individual pieces and only made from customer order from molds. If you are lucky, they have 1 or 2 windshields in stock of some model.
Labour costs high, this is not China. Now you can see why they cost so much... Btw, I have never seen a 4dr sedan cost 30k here. Actually, some
fine old US cars are cheaper here than in the USA. This isn't a Catholic region, so the Pope doesn't mean so much here.

| I have several used 60 to 64 windshields. Some have some mild delamination but are otherwise good. I'm just curious as to if anybody has ever tried a process to repair delamination much like how rock chip windshields are repaired? |

Yes he does. He's been in CA about 40 years.

| Fixing the cloudy delaminating would be about like having a fix for a leaking water heater. Someone would get rich for sure if could be done. As I put in prior I found a new $400.00 windshield what I failed to show was yep I found a used in a car, they wanted $600.00. Go figure. Hate to say it but sometimes you need to swallow the price and do it. After all if your hunting and find can you find another cheaper? |

Location: Milano, Italy | I bought mine for my 58 Belvie 4drHT from Timo Tanskanen in Finland 4 or 5 years ago.
It was a spotless perfect fit.
500 euro shipping included From Finland to my door in Milano.
I'll always bless him for the perfect work he did.
I reused the old gasket with a very thin line of black silicone all around it. (here it often rains)
Of course the old gasked was talc impregnated to restore its elasticity, then it was washed and rubbed and cleaned
and then again talc impregnated again to restore its elasticity.
No more leaks ever since.

Location: So. Cal | What is this talc impregnation you are talking about? The talc I am thinking of is more of a powder. What product do you use and how do you do it? I have heard of some people using lanolin to do it. |

Location: Milano, Italy | By talc impregnation I mean the plain talc used for body care.
Its propriety on making the rubber return elastic is awesome.
By rubbing a -clean- gasket with talc you feel it returning to the elastic state just as you keep rubbing it with talc.
I use wash and clean the gasket from all the debris and glue that could be attached ---- This is a very exausting and messing procedure --- then I put it in a large bag with a decent quantity of talc. Then I shake it up and down with the bag closed ( to avoid the mess) and leave it rest overnight.
The next day I rub it by pressing the talc into the tightest spots with my fingers (you need strong fingers) all around the gasket and there she is- ready to work as new.
