Location: The Mile High City | For me, the color combination is the biggest drawback. De Soto seemed to LOVE white in 1958 - a lot of the advertisements showed white cars. White looks great on letter cars and other forward looks, but man-o-man this car needs some light green paint (or dark blue, or black - maybe even pale yellow) to set off the light blue!

Location: Parts Unknown | I want to know if this car is an import .... I lived in and around Snohomish for most
of my life, driving my own DeSotos and being well known as "the DeSoto guy" around
the area. How did this one escape me ? Or did it come into the area later ?
Fireflite 2 doors are pretty much unobtainium in either form. It needs proper whitewalls
and a rework of the seat upholstery, but otherwise looks pretty nice. Can't say the paint
is super sexy, but at least it isn't red.

Location: Parts Unknown | Snohomish was a small town until the 90's, but Seattle is sprawling out just like Denver,
and the hills are being carpeted with McMansions for 100 miles around. Judging by the
houses in the background of the photos, this looks to be exactly the case, so maybe the
car got hauled in from some other area ?
Amongst DeSoto afficionados, Adventurer and Fireflite coupes tend to get noticed and
tracked like all the ragtops. This one I've never seen or heard of at all. A few years ago
another FF coupe popped up out of nowhere in the Bellingham area, about 60 miles north
of Snohomish. It was Willow Green with a white sweep and roof. Remember ?
Given their rarity, it is odd that two similar, unrestored cars came out of the woodwork
in such close proximity.

Location: Parts Unknown | About the red comment ... it is kind of like the unfortunate following Corvettes have. It's
not so much the car or color, but the association to those who seem overwhelmingly attracted
to them. When it comes to 58 DeSoto convertibles, it's not like a person can really shop around
for the color we want. Find a red one ? Whaddyagonnadoo ?
The first 58 DeSoto I remember seeing in person, during the period after I had become interested
in finned Mopars, was a charcoal Firedome coupe with a red roof and sweep. THAT was quite a
striking use of red. I ultimately owned the car, but not before some Einstein "restored" it as an
all-silver, stripped of side trim mess, that had degenerated into a parts car.

Location: Melbourne, Australia | Doc I rang the guys ages ago as its been for sale for a while . I was going to buy that green one from Bellingham a few years ago , in fact I had 2 chances to buy the car but something was just off about that car . Ive waited 25 years or more to find the right fireflite and have finally found another one that virtually no one knows about . I only bought it as this guy from Shonomish starting playing games with me .
This car is probably the nicest one youll ever find except for the seat cloth trim , which SMS has a NOS supply of .
The car came from an old lady around the area I believe , it got traded to Seattle classic cars and the current owner had to make a quick deal about 9 years ago or he would have missed it . I belive he paid about 18k or so back then for it . Ive had extra photos of the floros etc. the car is minto , best you will find . and it has elec seat , elec windows , rear antennas and a few other goodies . I offered 30k but he wouldn't take it . Offering more with our bad exchange rate and stupid laws was just to much for me .

Location: The Mile High City | When I first posted the advertisement, I checked to see if I could find this car anywhere else in the forums - that's how I found the green and white car and I almost added a link noting that that was the last one listed around here. I checked the NDC roster, but it offered no clues. Doc, no worries about the red comments, I understand completely - but I can't pass up a chance to rib you a bit! Interesting that James has tangled with this one before - he definitely has or had his fingers on the pulse of '58 De Sotos for a long while! James, we have to see images of your Fireflite! Cheers!
