| So I was lucky enough to get my hands on a 56 savoy, sadly she needs some love as the gentleman I bought it from was restoring it for his wife and she passed away which made him stop and sell the car.
Needs- generator or 1 wire alternator that will fit my original brackets with minimal fabrication.
Electronic ignition conversion (pertronix?) or just a part number.
chrome trim for the bottom hood lip. |

Location: So. Cal | I believe that won't work for you as they require a dual point distributor. The later model 318 electronic distributor will swap right into your motor. If you go that route, I sell a kit to mount an HEI module to the bottom of the distributor. That's what I use on all my vehicles. But if you want to use the Pertronix, I think you need to get a dual point plate to swap into your single point distributor. I haven't used them for a long time though so my info may be old.

| it's listed as a direct fit on their website, but I will contact them for more info. One of the reviews on summit racing also has a 56 savoy ( same as my car) listed as what he installed it on, said it fit perfectly and works great. How do you fit the newer style 318 dizzy on anything special or plug and play?

| Also I have an original distributor with the hard lined vacuum off the side and I don't wan't to stray to far from what it is. I will be removing this motor at some point and it is just to nice to mess with to much. I recieved boxes and boxes of original mopar parts with the car including suspension, electrical, and switches it's a time capsule in the trunk |

| It won't have a hard lined hose for the advance on the distributor and I'd rather not buy a distributor right now. What is used to change the fitting over? |

Location: Muskego, WI | I might have my original generator from my 1960 Plymouth with 318. Does your car have a V8? Does the generator mount off the end of the passenger side exhaust manifold? I'll see if I still have the generator tonight. |

| here is the review, I also have the autolite distributor
"I am really impressed with how easy this kit was to install, how well it fit, and how well it worked. I converted a 56 plymouth with a 277c.i. v8. Easier to put in than points and condenser, no adjustments other than ignition timing, and easier to get than points and condenser. I had to contact pertronix to get the correct application, as the autolite distributor number I was working on wasn't listed, and Summit had it to me next day. Available voltage went from about 10,000 volts, which was causing a driveability problem, to 30,000 as measured on an old Sun scope. The car starts easier, and idles smoother than ever" |

Location: SW Colorado | Does the generator have a power steering pump on the rear of it? I have one, not sure what year it's for. |

Location: So. Cal | If it has a green tag on it, it's 12 volt and for '56. If it has a red tag on it, it is 6 volt and for '55 or earlier. |

Location: Colorful Colorado skier on the license plate | You can buy a whole HEI distributor aftermarket ... cheaper than you can convert to any thing else. Check ebay! I bought one for a 354 hemi and it's great. still no problems 3 years. Looks like crap, but no towing bills yet.
